Lopi & Avalon Large Wood Stove - Vertical Air Duct Cover

This 10 GA HR steel heat shield covers the vertical secondary air duct (This is NOT the air duct) at the back of the large wood stoves and inserts.
It was a add on from the factory, your stove may not have come with it from the factory.
The heat shield is held in place with flanges at the front & sides. No hardware is required, it is intended to prevent heat and corrosion effects to the steel at the back of the firebox,

If your Vertical Air Duct welds are broken or cracked, this will not fix it, this item just helps protect the air duct

Lopi Liberty wood stove verticle air duct cover
Heavy duty heat shield fits without issue. I had replaced this last year and it warped during use over the winter. Initial heat shield was tack welded in and lasted many years. I tack welded this one in on top and bottom and also cemented in a couple of fire bricks in front to help protect from the concentrated heat that comes down the middle of these stoves. Yes I did lose a bit of firebox space but I think it will help with the longevity of the shield. I can always pull them out if necessary. After two weeks of use stove is working as expected. I did look at a local fabricator, but they wanted more than it cost to purchase here.
