Product Description
Hearthstone Heritage 8020 Wood Stove Gasket Kit
Gasket Kit Includes:
- 5' - 3/4" Gasket Tape Adhesive Backed
- 9' - 3/8" Gasket Rope Non-Cor Adhesive
- 4' - 1/2" Gasket Rope
- 2 oz. Gasket Glue
Procedure
- 1) Remove the front and side doors by lifting them straight up off the hinges, with the hinge pins remaining in the door. Place them face down. (Use a soft surface for enameled doors).
- 2) Pull out used gasket from channel, and discard. Clean the gasket channel using steel wool or wire brush; remove any residue. Wipe clean with a damp rag or cloth.
- 3) Using the gasket adhesive bottle, apply a thin bead of the adhesive to the gasket channel. More is not better.
- 4) When the adhesive becomes “tacky”, apply the appropriate fresh gasket by pushing it into the channel.
- • Take care not to stretch or bunch the gasket. • Do not start in a corner; it will be more easily pulled out. • Try to use as much gasket as you can. • Cut off any excess
- 5) Return the doors to the stove as soon as possible. Shut doors tightly to allow the gaskets to seat properly to assure a positive seal.
- 6) Repeat the process with ash pan door. To remove the ash pan door, pry up the hinge pins with a flathead screwdriver, and pull door away from frame.
Procedure to Replace the Glass and Glass Gasket:
- 1) Remove the front and side doors by lifting them straight up off the hinges, with the hinge pins remaining in the door. Place them face down. (Use a soft surface for enameled doors).
- 2) Apply penetrating oil to the screws; allow it to sit for 5-10 minutes. With a Phillips screwdriver, remove the glass frame screws that hold the frame in place.
- 3) Carefully lift the glass from the door.
- 4) If the new glass already has the gasket affixed, skip to step 5. Otherwise - peel the paper backing from the backside of the flat gasket, a small amount at a time. Wrap the tape around the outside edge of the glass, overlapping both the front and back of the glass.
- 5) Place the gasketed glass back into the door, and screw the window frame back on the door.
- Important: Before you put the door back onto the stove, ensure the infrared reflective coated side is placed on the outside of the stove, away from the firebox. This will reflect radiant heat back into the firebox, aiding the combustion process.
- 6) Install door.
