Avalon Olympic / Lopi Freedom - Vertical Air Duct Cover 250-00488
This 10 GA HR steel heat shield covers the vertical secondary air duct (it is NOT the air duct) at the back of the large wood stoves and inserts.
THIS PART IS NOT EAST TO INSTALL! Stick Welder or MIG Welder is recommend to install this part but you can also cement this item into place
If your Vertical Air Duct welds are broken or cracked, this will not fix it, this item just helps protect the air duct. You can cement the cracks in the vertical air duct to help prevent air leakage before you install this piece

Know what you're getting into with this...
Stick welding, grinding, and tight spaces with cast iron/steel. Mine started 'sagging' the last year of the covered warranty, but nothing could be done cost effective. Manufacturer said just let it go and when it breaks through put a new piece on. Essentially this is a second 'heat shield to combat the top falling in. After 14 years of use I'm looking to put a second one on (and over the other one. Wish there were a better way of doing so as the design seems inherently bad for replacement purposes. If you do it yourself make sure to wear respirator an disconnect the stove and all electronics from house line.
