HearthStone Heritage 8021 Lower Ash Grate (Base Grate)
2010-227 Measurements: 11-1/4" x 7-7/8"
This OEM Hearthstone ash grate base is designed for use with the below unit:
- Hearthstone 8021 Heritage wood stove 2003-2014
Cast iron ash grates can warp with time, this is normal: If your ash grate has warped, you should inspect and possibly replace your ash pan housing door gasket. If this gasket leaks air into the ash pan housing it can cause the fire to burn hotter then designed, causing the new ash grate to warp very quickly just like the old one.
PROCEDURE:
- Remove the upper ash Grate
- To gain access to the lower ash grate, you will have to remove the ash pan assembly by removing the six ¼”-20 screws holding it to the stove bottom with a 7/16” wrench.
- Remove ash control lever, remove the two shoulder bolts that hold it to the bottom casting with a 5/16” allen wrench. The location of the bolts is indicated in the illustration.
- Un-bolt the lower ash grate from the bottom casting on the stove.
- Install the new lower ash grate
- Replace the ash control lever. Attach it with the shoulder bolts previously removed.
- When bolting the ash dump back to the stove bottom, make sure the sealing 3/8” diameter rope gasket is in good condition and in place between the bottom of the stove and the ash dump. Replace it with 3/8” low density gasket if required.
- Reinstall the upper ash grate
