More from Morso stoves
Using a Morso energy efficient stove is a positive fuel choice.
Wood is a plentiful, renewable, non-fossil natural product
and when used as fuel it is in effect 'carbon-neutral' meaning that the
CO2 released when burning is being absorbed by the tree that has been
replanted; in fact the same level of CO2 would have been emitted by a
tree that had been left to rot naturally on the forest floor.
The percentage of the total energy we use in production comes from renewable sources:
| morsø produces some of the most energy
efficient, clean burning stoves in the world. Our stoves meet and even
surpass the strictest environmental standards, including EPA and
Norwegian Standard NS 3058/3059 for the lowest particulate emissions.
|
morsø’s dedication to a cleaner environment was recognized in 2007 when 21 stoves - almost the entire
morsø product line in Europe - were awarded the Nordic Swan Eco-label.
| Introduced by the Nordic Council of Ministers this public
environmental certification required low particle emissions and minimum
73% efficiency, it recognizes companies that are actively reducing their
“environmental footprint” in terms of production practices and
packaging. In short, having the Nordic Swan Eco-label shows morsø’s continued commitment for a cleaner, greener planet.

Did you know that a tree decomposing in the forest emits more carbon
dioxide into the air than burning that same tree in an efficient burning
Hearthstone woodstove?
At Hearthstone, our business is filling family homes with warmth – not
just today, but for future generations as well. Whether fueled by wood
or gas, our family of stoves offers viable alternative heat sources that
are highly environmentally conscious.
Our woodstoves utilize modern, low emission combustion technology to create carbon-neutral burning – a factor that is a top priority for us. Similarly, our gas stoves bring the benefits of efficient zone heating
, and accordingly help reduce CO2 emissions. And our Hergom foundry is
committed to innovative programs and new initiatives that mitigate our
impact on the environment. These environmental efforts are aimed to meet
the European IPPC (Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control)
standards.
We are working hard to preserve nature by providing heating solutions
which can help lessen the greenhouse effect. And we will continue to
make climate protection – both today and tomorrow – a vital important
goal.
The Green Story from Vermont Castings
Where Heritage and Technology Meet.
At Vermont Castings we’ve woven together a
rich history of traditionally forged handcraftsmanship with leading
edge technology to offer you some of the most beautiful and most
technologically advanced stoves and fireplaces available.
Coming from the heart of Vermont, where
the beauty of nature and the richness of time spent with family and
friends around hearth and home is built into each product we make, we
also strive today to incorporate contemporary concerns for the
environment and the carbon footprint we each leave behind.
Vermont Castings
proudly offers you some of the cleanest burning and most efficient
stoves on the market. In fact, seven out of the top twelve efficient
stoves in the world are made by Vermont Castings. Green is our state
color after all.
Recycled, Renewable and Re-used Resources.
Vermont
Castings uses 100% recycled cast iron that comes from reclaimed items
such as automotive brake drums and rotors, and other larger, recycled
cast iron pieces – including Vermont Castings rejected cast pieces and
scrap.
Our foundry runs on 70% hydro power – a
renewable and clean resource and 30% nuclear power – also a clean
resource. In fact, we’re so into green, we’ve even changed all of our
lightbulbs at both the foundry and the plant to T5 fluorescents!
Our casting process
uses environmentally friendly natural sand and clay to bond the mold
together (using a constantly monitored and perfected humidity level)
rather than an artificial polymer, and the natural sand and clay is used
again and again.
More Than Just Good Looks.
In the hearth industry, there are four
“green” agencies that each have certain high standards for efficiency
and the impact the product has on the environment at large. Our Vermont
Castings stoves and fireplaces all meet each of these agencies’ rigorous
standards and, depending on the product, may also qualify for “green
points” when being considered as part of a “green” or “LEED” certified
building. These agencies are as follows and our products fall into the
following categories with them:
National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Green Building Standard and Guidelines
- All Vermont Castings direct vent products (8 points)
- All Vermont Castings EPA Approved wood stoves, inserts
and fireplaces (6 points)
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)
- All Vermont Castings direct vent millivolt control products (1 point)
- All Vermont Castings direct vent electronic ignition control product (2 points)
- All Vermont Castings EPA Approved wood stoves, inserts and fireplaces (1 point)
